First 2,000 Days

logo-first2000days_94x54There are only 2,000 days between the time a baby is born and when he or she will begin kindergarten. The most rapid period of development in life happens in children’s earliest years. This period is so important that military leaders, business executives, and law enforcement professionals are calling for greater investments in early child development. Click here to find out more.

I’m Going to Kindergarten

alarm_icon_jelly_beanAll children who turn 5 by August 31st are eligible for kindergarten! However, each child develops at a different rate and there is no “one size fits all” for kindergarten readiness. How can you help your child to have a good school experience? Read, be involved, provide resources, communicate! Check out some more items that may help your child to feel more prepared for school! I’m Going To Kindergarten.

About Us

bird_72x46Ensuring every child in Catawba County enters kindergarten prepared for lifelong success. Our vision is to be the primary convener for early childhood services and resources, focused on meeting the needs of the whole child as they relate to: Early Care & Education, Family Support & Parent Education, Early Literacy, Community Awareness & Advocacy, and Health and Safety. Imagination Library

logo-imaginationlibrary_109x109Imagination Library is a program that sends one free age-appropriate children’s book in the mail to each enrolled child every month until the child turns 5 years of age! While the program is free for all enrolled children, thanks to the support of the Dollywood Foundation, our cost is only about $2 per book, or about $25 per year, per child. We are working to raise these funds through corporate sponsorships, individual donations, and grants. Please consider a donation to support our early literacy efforts through our Imagination Library program! Learn more …
